the Validation of the XSTREAM X2000 System in Surgical Applications

Oakton, Virginia, August 30, 2017 - XSTREAM® Infection Control LLC today announced that Dr. Anthony K. Hedley of St. Luke’s Hospital in Arizona will be validating the eradication of bovie and surgical smoke and elimination of surgical site infections specifically in orthopedic surgery.

Dr. Hedley founded the Hedley Orthopedic Institute, considered to be one of the finest in the world, which is the Official Healthcare provider of the NBA Phoenix Suns and the WNBA Phoenix Mercury. Dr. Hedley specializes in surgery and replacement of the knee and hip. An extremely skilled surgeon, Dr. Hedley is known as “ The doctor’s doctor.” In addition to being listed in the “ Who’s Who Worldwide,” Dr. Hedley has been listed in “ The Best Doctors in America” every year since its inception in 1992.

The X2000-10 is designed to run in a vertical or horizontal position, eliminating viruses and bacteria in an 8000 square foot room. In addition to eliminating viruses and bacteria, the Cluster Ions produced by the X2000-10 are also known to eradicate all types of smoke and particulates.

At the foot of every surgical table is a Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) pump. The protocol implemented with Dr. Hedley’s team is to position the X2000-10 at the foot of the surgical table in a horizontal position over the DVT Pump with the ion saturated plume produced by the X2000-10. This directs a gentle ion flow over the surgical site. The smoke never reaches the nose or mouth of the surgeon or anyone on the surgical team.
